On this day in 1892 – The Chicago "L" elevated rail system begins operation.

In 1933 – The first drive-in theater opens in Camden, NJ.

The first film shown at the theatre is "Wives Beware". I can't find a copy online.
In 1970 - Soft Machine releases "Third"
In 1978 - The Cars releases their self titled debut
In 1985 – The grave of "Wolfgang Gerhard" is opened in Embu, Brazil; the exhumed
remains are later proven to be those of Josef Mengele, Auschwitz's "Angel of Death";
Mengele is thought to have drowned while swimming in February 1979.
In 2000 - Queens of the Stone Age releases "Rated R"
