1935 – Caroline Mikkelsen becomes the first woman to set foot in Antarctica.
1962 - Aboard Friendship 7, John Glenn orbits the Earth.
1965 – Ranger 8 crashes into the Moon after photographing possible landing sites for the Apollo program.
1981 - Rick James releases "Give It To Me Baby,"
1986 - Mir spacecraft is launched.
1991 - Public Enemy and Sinead O'Connor are nominated for Grammy Awards, but skip the ceremony.
