Leaving February 3
I looked up the lyrics to "Your Gold Teeth" by Steely Dan, and noticed a line "Even Cathy Berberian knows, There's one roulade she can't sing" so I had to look up who Cathy Berberian was. Really cool discovery.
I was introduced to "The Yellow Wallpaper" by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. I read the first few pages of it at work and when I got home I watched the first part of this film adaptation. I plan on finishing one or both today. I listened to Weird Studies Episode 53 - Astral Jet Lag: On William Gibson's 'Pattern Recognition' before going to sleep early, although sleep was hard to come by after spending some time doomscrolling on Instagram. "We're cooked" I kept hearing people say in my mind, and wondered why I even bother with this blog. What is there to celebrate? I suppose every day I'm alive, well fed, housed and not in a concentration camp is cause for some joy. It just doesn't seem right that ANYONE should have to go through such suffering, citizen or not. I'm often reminded of a scene in "Fanny & Alexander"
