And this day. My 365 project for 2026.

Here we are on the last day of 2025. The Year of the Wood Snake. What a hell-scape we are living in. I lost my mother to cancer this year among other tragedies that occured to(by) humanity at large. I turned 52 with a fever and celebrated nothing. I had some friends come by and drop off juice and soup, so that was nice.
I don't expect things to be all better in this coming year of 2026, but hey, I can hold out hope anyway, and I believe that is for the best.
There were some good things that happened. Dick Cheney died.
Burning Hair, the band I play keyboards in recorded a batch of songs at the beginning of the year. I started playing guitar for a band. We are calling ourselves Cruel Math (Read Camus' The Myth of Sisyphus), and no it isn't math rock.
I spent a lot of time entertained with VCV Rack and tutorials by Omri Cohen on YouTube and was able to create some fun electronic music that I will be using for an upcoming project called Powerbank with a couple friends. I watched the 4th and 5th Doctors of Doctor Who. I attempted the 6th, but after two episodes wasn't feeling it. I also binged through Andromeda and Continuum. I read a few things but the thing I remember most is Malpertius by Jean Ray. So good. There was also a wonderful French movie with Orson Welles from 1971 titled Malpertuis. It was good although not as good as the book. (Is it ever?) I do feel like I would like to see it again though. I hope to read the book again sometime in the next year.
I listened to a lot of Lore Podcast ,and What Magic is This? got a fair amount of play. Recently I've been spending a lot of time with Weird Studies, which has inspired me to read more "weird" fiction and philosophy. They had an episode about Tarkovsky's "Stalker" so I gave that a watch and was pleasantly surprised. Afterwards I gave "Mirror" a watch. Also excellent.
Terribly bored and ill a week last month I spent a few days compiling a playlist based on the Nurse With Wound list

Here we go into The Year of the Fire Horse.
This blog is an attempt to journal my day at night before bed, and to begin the day doing a little "on this day" thing like you would see in newspapers (remember those?). Birthday celebrations of artists, musicians, writers, poets, revolutionaries, scientists, free thinkers etc.
I did something like this about a decade ago on Facebook. It's really just for my own entertainment, but I will share links on social media, in case anyone else is interested.
I'll also share the occasional recipe like this one from Réunion. Brigitte Bardot just died and was quoted as saying the people of Réunion were degenerates with the genes of savages. Yuck.
Still. Seperating the art from the artist, I think tomorrow I will give "Contempt" a watch. (Perhaps while enjoying some Rougaille saucisse.) It's on Kanopy.
So anyway... See you next year
